Sudden Acceleration Simulated

Brian Ross, ABC investigation reporter, has now found an automotive professor that has rigged the cars computer to suddenly accelerate the car around all the fail safe monitoring and cause no error codes. This allegedly substantiates sudden acceleration claims by some Toyota drivers. This was reported to Toyota engineers last week. Their comment: We are surprised. See ABC story link below:

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/toyota...9909319&page=1

It will be interesting to see the Toyota response because SAFETY is now #1 based on all the latest Toyota commercials.

Yep, saw the story. It's gotta be something electronic, I'm not convinced at all that a sticky pedal is going to cause sudden acceleration. The fact that it does not make a code is very troubling. Toyota is denying it of course because they don't have a solution or at least the solution would be very costly for them.

Opens some new insight. We shall see.

Edit:

So I watched it again, there is some how shall we say... "creative" editing going on here to give it more dramatic effect. Between 2:14 to 2:16 they show the rev counter sky rocketing to the sound of the engine, just as the automotive professor shorts the throttle. If you look at the tach, the door open light is on, as is the ebrake light. They just revved the car for the rev counter shot to over dramatize it.

I don't see how a rigged test is valid. It's getting to the point where the news organizations are creating news, not reporting it. What exactly is the problem; is it bad wiring or an incorrect computer program?

Any way, I'm not in a panic. I already had my accelerator fixed and my two Toyotas work great so if I had to buy a new car today I'b buy a Toyota. (Maybe it's because my Toyota service department feeds you coffee and doughnuts while you're waiting.)

So the flaw I pointed out in the video is finally being noticed:

Good ole mainstream media, fear mongering at its best.

Toyota response to ABC story

ABC news story of unintended acceleration simulation is getting blown out of the water just like many have suspected of manipulative journalism. You will not see this on ABC world news tonight as a followup. Remember this when Brian Ross, investigative reporter, creates his stories and his motives.

See Toyota response of the testing and why it does NOT represent what could happen in the real world. See reply below. The mystery continues.

Toyota today slammed the mechanics behind Brian Ross' ABC News report on unintended acceleration, showing how they were manipulated by recreating the same fault on a Chevy, Mercedes, Honda and Ford. Here's how the hoax occurred.
