2006 Avalon Recall - All 3 issues repaired today

A. Perform A0A safety recall accelator pedal mod

B. Perform safety recall 90L Floor mat entrapment

C. VVT-I oil hose replacement

You do not have to show up with a written recall notice from Toyota. If the dealership people you're working with are doing their job, they'll read off all recall notices relevant to your year/make/model.

There is no charge.

Total time to perform in my case - 50 mins.

I made an appointment a day ahead of time.

Many of you have likely dealt with what I've always felt to be a way too-over-sensitive '06 Avalon gas pedal. I've always had to feather it, even with the TSB I posted here some time ago that deals with transmission hunting.

After all of this work today, I find my '06 Avalon gas pedal sensitivity issue much improved.

Not 100%, but much better.

I've had the shim installed in the pedal and the oil line taken care of. I'm putting off having the pedal ground down and the floor mats messed with. I did not have an issue with the original feel of the pedal and was afraid that the shim might make if too loose. This did not happen. Instead, I like the pedal feel better now because it feels as though it springs back quicker. I also believe I read in this forum that Toyota may have a new, reshaped pedal available later on. If this is the case I would have that installed even if I had to pay for it rather than grind down the old pedal.

First I've heard of a pedal being ground down. My pedal was replaced. Customer waiting area at the dealership I used had me sitting maybe 30 ft. from the car with all activity in plain sight.

My daughter in laws pedal was replaced also and not ground down. I wonder if it's location and availability of the new pedal?
