2011 Avalon up close @ the CLE Auto Show..

2011 Avalon up close at the CLE Auto show.

Well I went to the Cleveland auto show this weekend to see up close the “New 2011 Avalon” Well up close and personal- same as the pictures posted. My wife stated what’s new about this ? I will admit the dash/cockpit is a nice upgrade but too bad they stopped there. The entire Toyota and Lexus Booths where rather disappointing. No glamour at all.
Very disappointing………

Did find my next dream car S550 4Matic

"dash/cockpit is a nice upgrade" Are you kidding me?? It looks like it was designed by a third grader. Did you check out the rough leather on the steering wheel? YUK.. Exterior looks just OK, but that dash is just horrible to me.

I'm the opposite. The thing that drew me to the Avalon was the exterior styling (I have an '08) so I'm not unhappy about Toyota keeping the basic lines the same. As far as the interior goes I feel it's too busy. The previous dash (once you get past the grey color) is simple and uncluttered.

I don't like the dash either. I wonder if it looks any better without navigation. I think the flatness and color of the '07 style dash are what make it less busy and more appealing to me. I find most dashes these days outright repulsive. I think chrysler makes some of the worst. Those analog clocks look like they were 2 for 1 at the dollar store. The avy '11 dash appears to be trending towards the busy, dial heavy styling of the infiniti sedans.

How were the interior materials? Do we still have the padded dashboard and other surfaces? Door panels padded or just plastic? Fit and finish. I must know!

It reminds me of a Hyundai... not liking where toyota is going with their designs.
