I wanted to share my experience to save someone else the extreme frustration I suffered today.
For the installation of a blue tooth device, I had to remove the overhead console. It popped out with no problem by using a nylon panel removal tool. On the end toward the rear of the car, the console has three plastic prongs that hold it inside the headliner. On the front side, there were no clips. But, it did have two plastic clip-like protrusions that are guided into holes in the overhead metal roof.
After about two hours of looking for missing pieces, examining the console over and over and over, I finally realized that the damn thing is held in place by, of all things, a piece of velcro. The problem was that the original velcro had apparently worn out and had no ability to stick. I visited a local auto parts store for some new velcro tape and the problem was solved!
However, I almost broke out in hives trying to figure out how it worked. I hope my post saves someone some headaches!
