2006 Avalon iPod/iPhone

I've looked at every product I can find for this car. I have the silly cassette player, non JBL/NAV radio. I can't find anything that gives me a dock connector to a Non-JBL audio system. My GF just bought a 2007 Camry Hybrid that has the silly headphone jack plug, which sounds like crap.

I want to get rid of the cassette player and use this space as other cars do, for an iPod storage and accessory plug. The Camry has it and it's very convenient to have the plug in in that area. Do I have to get rid of this car to get a simple connector for iPhone use?

After just twelve months of browsing and looking, I did find this site.

Lots of things for non JBL radios, don;t know how they work though

Crutchfield has a car outfitter allowing you to see things that are "compatible" with your equipment. Using the selector, there are a few iPod interfaces that come up. Specifically:

I have a 2006 Avalon and this is the one I have in my car. This unit provided iPod charging, digital connection to the head unit, and steering wheel control.

Installation of this was a b compared to taking out the head unit in my 01 camry.

Hope this helps.

05 Limited w/Nav. I have a Soundlinq XM kit from VAISTech with the Aux input, then have an iPlug running from the soundlinq into the storage bin behind the shifter. Works like a champ - I use my phone (Droid) as an mp3 player so the Aux input also doubles as a speaker phone system since I dont have Bluetooth. This should work with all of the JBL stereos for that vehicle.
