There is no timing belt on the 2GR-FE. It's got a chain.

I replace all fluids every 30,000 miles.
K&N air filter
cabin every ten
brakes fluid change when brakes done.

What is a cooling system? isn't that replacing fluid?

Protect your warranty. In the event you have a problem with your Avalon make sure your are up to Toyota's scheduled requirements.
They provide a handy maintenance scheduling tool online at:
http://smg.toyotapartsandservice.com/
The list is tailored to your year, model and mileage.
Check it out. I think you'll find it handy.

Your Avalon has a sealed transmission without a dipstick, the manual says to get the fluid inspected at 100,000 miles

You have a timing chain, which would probably last the life of the car.

Your Avalon comes with Toyota Super Long Life Coolant (pink), good for 100,000 miles before needing a flush.

????

Mine clearly has a dipstick and drain plugs. I find it extremely hard to believe that.

If you have an Avalon with the 6-speed automatic tranny, then it's sealed. The 5-speed still has a dipstick.

For the 5-speeds I think the manual states a drain and fill every 15,000-30,000 miles.

My old BMW has "lifetime transmission fluid" -- NOT!
You can have the fluid changed easily using the transmission cooler lines - cost at Toy dealer should be around ?? $75 or less.
I'd do it at 50,000 miles and keep it up at that interval; cheap insurance.

Wrong. You obviously haven't tried it on a 6-speed auto, or don't own an Avalon with a sealed tranny.

You're absolutely right, don't own one yet. My '97 BMW does have a "sealed" transmission, no transmission dipstick, but there are cooler lines to the radiator;
I know that since I had to disconnect them to swap out the radiator.

Are you telling me that on the 6 speed transmission:
(a) There are no transmission-fluid cooler lines to the radiator, and
(b) There are no fittings at radiator, so if radiator goes bad you can disconnect the lines and replace the radiator?

Who, in their wrong minds, would make such a setup?

Someone who does not want the tranny to be messed with unless it is by the dealer or other trained personel

Good answer to the rhetorical question, not an answer to the actual question.

I don't know why you are comparing a 1997 BMW tranny to Toyota's more modern U660E 6-speed. The U660E and many of the newer Aisin units are self-contained (no radiator heat exchanger) and they can not be flushed. The tranny does have a fill-plug, drain-plug, and over-flow tube. These tranny's come with WS ATF and needs to be checked at a certain temperature, when doing a drain & fill.
