How does the fuel reset work.

Is this automatic when you open the fuel fill door...or when fuel is added?
Also, does the 09 avalon have the "instantaneous fuel mileage" feature?

His question is still valid. Have you ever opened the fuel door for the heck of it to see if the average mpg reset without putting gas in? I haven't. It could be based on the fuel filler door, or the level in the tank rising. I dont think I've ever seen anything about it in the manual saying which it is.

never thought of the average, just thought of tank distance. My guess is float as it might reset when you mean to open trunk and open fuel by mistake.
