Door Rust Defect?

I noticed on my g/f's 06 Avalon there was rust on the rear passenger doors. It is located where the door closes onto the car. At first I thought something must have hit it when closing the door, so I checked the other door on the other side to compare and to my horror, the door was rusting in the exact same place. I took it to the dealership and a guy there took a look at it and noticed that it was coming from the welding seam. He says he wants a factory rep to take a look at it. He also started to tell me about the warranty only covers if your car has a gaping hole on it or something.

Has anyone else seen this, check your 06 and let me know.

Thanks,
