unimpressed with recall work

I got the recall work done today on our 08 Avy and wife was in a hurry to leave when we picked it up and drove it home, so I didn't really have time to inspect it. When we got home I am not pleased with the job and was wondering if my dealer followed protocol on the pedal reduction fix. It looks like they took my pedal off and sent it to the local jr high for an angle grinder hack job. Not to mention the fact that it used to be a moderately sized pedal and now it looks like it might be appropriate for a go cart. I expressed concern when taking it in on what exactly they were doing to the car and they failed to mention that they were going to make the skinny look like poo.
I took my weathertech liners out (put the stockers back in) in fear that they would attempt to modify them and now I know i did it with good reason.
I will try to post a pic tomorrow when there is light out, but am I the only one that has had the recall work done, this way at least?
I want my old pedal back, with the stock mats or the weathertechs, there was not a remote chance of the pedal getting snagged on it.

I feel you man. There was such a hurry to get these recalls finalized and ready for use that the templates used to cut the pedals are not exactly the most beautifuly shaped shall we say. Now the dealer may or may not have cut it correctly that i cannot comment on, but even if they did cut correctly they look rough som keeps that in mind.

Let me start out by saying I was annoyed by having to have my car recalled. A few months back I had the gas pedal shim installed. Then two weeks ago I had the pedal cut, the ECU reflash and the VVTi oil hose recalls done. In addition to that the service adviser told me the Toyota rubber floor mats I had were also recalled.

Now that it's all (hopefully) behind me I feel better about it. The care still runs and feels the same and I have brand new rubber floor mats in the front. To be honest I haven't even looked at the gas pedal nor do I care what it looks like. Without a doubt - every time I'm in the car the pedal is hidden under my shoe. It just not important to me...

Not happy with the gas pedal hack job? If you go back to them now, and tell them that, they actually have brand new brake pedal assemblies, and will replace the entire thing for you at no charge! Same size pedal, but actually manufactured that way, so it doesn't look crappy. What is funny, is that you have to have the hack job first, then say you don't like it, then they replace it with a brand new one. Wow.............

I agree. I have all my re-call work done 2 weeks ago on my 08 Avy and in Calgary they actually installed completely new pedal without me aksed them to do that.

I'm just curious; when Toyota does the work on the carpet under the gas pedal do they use any kind of heating iron to form the carpet to the floor?
