Silblade wipers for 2006 Limited

Any current feedback on the Silblade wipers? Was interested in them by reading some of the older threads and if you'll have any feedback. Is there any other place to buy the flexblade GVM126 and GVM 120 at a discount? Seen some wiper models on Amazon and Ebay but not all wiper sizes for the Avalon were available. Of course, still maybe more advisable to order direct from manufacture. Please advise.

If you've read the other threads here in the 3rd Gen Avalon forum you'll no doubt have read my feedback already. I have sworn by Silblades for years and still do.

One set I have are 10-years old and still wipe better than a brand new rubber blade.

Stop procrastinating and go buy the set from Silblade already. When you think about a $50 investment that lasted me for 10-years now - that's a whopping $5.00 a year. How much does a set of rubber ones cost and how long do they last? See my point?

Hi guys,

I have a set of silblade GVM 26" and 20" for my wife's 2008 Limited. Brand new, never installed. Bought it 3 months ago, Forgot about it, sat in the garage for the last 3 months and never had it installed. Traded in the Avalon and bought her a RX350 as a Mother's day gift yesterday (what was I thinking?)

Anyway, paid $70 shipped and willing to sell at $45 shipped anywhere is the 48 states.

Jack

I have never heard of Silblades, what so special about this wiper?
Also can we just replace the insert from the stock wiper? Or you have to replace the entire blade? If so how much it costs for OEM?

thanks

They're made of silicon rubber. The rubber doesn't perish like typical wiper blades do. A side benefit of using silicon is that is leaves a silicon deposit on the windshield that causes water to bead up. That allows you to, in effect, see right through the droplets. Once you get up to speed the water just runs up the windshield. I very seldom use the 'on' setting (either manually or via the auto-sensing settings) of the wipers. Matter of fact, I often drive in the rain without the wipers being on at all.

But from a financial perspective you can plan on paying just over $50 (what I paid years ago - I recently read $70) for a pair. But when you factor that price over the years that you'll get use out of them it becomes more cost effective to go this route. The $50 pair I put on the Mustang over 10-years ago have now cost only $5 per year.

Hi Tom,
You've helped me in the past, with silblades wipers and mud flaps. Can you read the post I just put up about Cleaning windshield w/ Silblade wipers? I'm getting a film of dirt trapped in the silicone residue due to watering the lawn and the dirt just sitting there until drying.

Thanks Jerry

Guess I am the only unhappy Silblade owner. The driver’s side blade does not have enough force on the left, lower end of the sweep at highway speed. It is either lack of pressure or aerodynamic design. The lower end of the blade actually lifts from the glass for about 6”. I contacted Silblade about the problem and they acknowledged it was a know issue and sent me a replacement blade – same problem.

From my experience, I still think OEM wipe insert works best.
