Seafoam'in my 06 XLS

not that much smoke versus other cars/videos, but the engine seems to run better now. Did the 1/3 in the gas, 1/3 in the oil, and 1/3 in the vacuum line.

going to do an oil change next week to flush out the seafoam in the oil.

car has 134k km. been using a lot of lucas upper cylinder lube with each tank-up for the last little while

Why? I've always felt this fell into the 'cause it makes the driver feel better' category.

What were you trying to fix?

So you put
1/3 in the gas tank
1/3 in the engine (from the top, like adding engine oil)
1/3 to vacuum (how to perform this step?) can you tell me how this is done, where is the vacuum?

thanks

after all these, you do an oil change?

yes that is how its done. look it up on youtube. i will post a picture of the vacuum line shortly.

it removes any water/moisture in the gas tank (hence why you mix it in) and engine (yes in through the gas cap)

it also dissolves the varnish in the engine that holds the carbon deposits. hence the white smoke is the excess carbon being blown out. watch a youtube video on it, else your going to do it wrong and/or hydro lock the engine in the process.

Is this done as preventative maintenance? or only if the car is running roughly?

Also, dumb question, but will this void any warranties you have?

no it wont void warranties

and yes kind of a preventative maintenance, but also helps on older cars with higher km. basically dissolves the varnish that holds the carbon as gunk around the cylinders. taking off the head and cleaning it the old fashioned way maybe best, but this is easier.

also removes water/moisture from the gas tank and crankcase (why you pour it in there)
