Hey do you guys think this 2007 Avalon is at a good Price?
Its a LIMITED edition. with 26,XXX Mileage. does not come with navigation. it is certified vehicle and no accidents.
The dealer price it at $21,995. we offered $21,000 out-the-door (with tax and tiltle and DOC fees) but the offer was turned down. they offered us at $22,500 out-the-door. what do you guys think? is that a good price? what price would you guys pay for it?
Im sure they can do better. Be straight up, ask them what they paid and come up with a fair price. They are in the business to get paid and u are in the market to save. Find out what they think is fair for them to make off you. For me, $500 profit for the sales rep is more than fair, time is money so the more time they waste the less they make an hour. even if the gave it to you for below cost, they still get a mini($100). If they sell so many units, their commissions go up for the overall payout. They may even be ok with that. Someone will always do better. Good Luck
That does seem to be a high price. Wait and see if they call you back with a better offer. If they do then you'll know the price was inflated to start with.
With respect to our fellow member above - I would NOT ask what they paid for it. Since the selling price is apparently inflated - I would wager they'll give you an inflated number for what they paid for it in order to justify you paying more for it as well. THEY determine what is acceptable profit - not YOU.
yes go to edmonds.com and get the fairmarket value price for the car in your area after all negotiations and still no fair price smack em with the fairmarket value and see what they say
To me, if the dealer has the car you want/like (color, option...) I don't mind paying few hundreds more. Will you be upset if someone else picks up that car and is no longer available?
As other mentioned, time is money. Either you wait and hope they will go down on price, or pay a little more to "save" you the time
Good luck. (edmunds.com only gives out "general" info on price, depends on location and what is in demand)
IF they don'g come down on price, ask for weather mats, cargo net to make up the different
22000 is NOT a new avalon limited..lmao..22k might be ALIL high for the year but like Brandpa said .I rather pay to get the exact colors and options i want rather then settle for a lesser choice and then maybe miss out on the ONE i really wanted.
Just bought a Certified '05 Touring with good options, and only 11,000 miles, and overpaid a little at $16k.
There's an '08 Limited not too far from here, with every option except laser cruise, 9,500 miles asking $23k.
I think you can do beter than $21k OTD for an '07 with 26k miles and without Nav.
Edmunds says: $18,008 "private party" & $19,256 "retail"--- but wholesale is $16,411 ((trade in value))
so exactly how much profit do you want to hand them??
In negotiating, you want to work UP from wholesale, not down from their imaginary highly-inflated asking price.
Don't worry about stupid salesman talk - "We would be selling at a loss if we met your price.", if they paid too much for their car that's their problem.
Don't worry, they didn't pay too much, they just want you to pay too much.
BTW.. According to the dealer I was just at, it costs them $600 to "certify" the car
- that is to say, that's (supposedly) their cost for the insurance policy.
Hope this helps.

I just got a 06 with 39K miles, XL for $13k. 22K seems high to me. I would shop around and don't be afraid to drive a hour or two out of town if you find a better deal.
I drove about 2 hrs away and got my car for several thousand thousand less than locally. Got it at a dealership, certified with the dealer, and a one year 12k warranty.
