Extended Warranty Again

I was reading the last few posts on the TSB exhaust manifold thread, and extended warranty was mentioned. It's been awhile since I've seen any posts on the extended warranty threads, so thought I revive the discussion. Anyone have any recent experiences with coverage problems/issues? Are the dealers mentioned in earlier posts still offering good deals on warranty prices? I'm getting close to original warranty expiring, so just curious. Thanks.

The person I see recommended most often is Jerry Johnson at Midwest Superstore in Hutchinson, Kansas, 888-474-2189. Give him a call.

I've got it on my Avalon and used it at 39M miles. It saved me about $300. I've never had it on my Sienna and wouldn't have needed it if I did have it. A recent issue of Consumer Reports says extended warranties for cars are a waste of money. If you don't have one you really have to budget some money each year just to cover yourself. I think having one gives peace of mind more than anything else, unless you need it. The only other thing I ever had an extended warrantee on was my iMac. I ended up needing it. They replaced my hard drive and came to my house to do it.

does anyone know if you can get a warranty from Toyota directly? online purchasing?
Jerry Johnson comes so highly recommended by forum members I'd suggest giving him a call and finding out about payment options. I don't see why a personal check via U.S. mail would not be acceptable.

I actually found a better deal/ and online from Scott @ Acton Toyota in MA. They have an online purchasing option, which is what I was really looking for as well.

I definately recommend this guy- very helpful. His number is 978-431-5853

happy motoring.
Thank you for the line on Scott. I'll have to add his name to the list of recommended warranty sellers we have on a couple other forums.

For those of you interested in Genuine Toyota Financial Services. (TFS) Platinum plans with no taxes or other fees, I purchased an 8 year 100K warranty for my 2007 Avalon Ltd. at Molle Toyota in Kansas City, MO. for $1,145. This was six months ago. My car has very low mileage (17K after three years) so that was the best deal for me. They have an 8 year 125K mi. but I didn't ask for the price.

www.molletoyota.com

Other plans are:

7 years, 100K, 0 deductible (7/100/0) $960.00

7/75/0 $645.00

6/100/0 $820.00

6/75/0 $540.00

Ask for Neil Hull, and if you can't get him, tell the salesperson he gave you the above quotes a while back. They should honor the price, even though their current prices may have gone up.

Molle Toyota has also consistently been highly recommended by forum members.

I wanted to buy the TFS extended warranty when I bought my new Avalon. Because I'm a member of TN, I did my research here to find the best deal on the best coverage. Sadly, it was not from my local dealer.

I emailed Jerry Johnson at Midwest Superstore in Hutchinson, Kansas on the basis of recommendations I found here, and I ended up buying the Extended Platinum zero deductible warranty. Jerry was quick to respond and thorough in providing the information I requested. When we talked on the phone, I was impressed. His rates for the various coverages were the best I've seen, and he recommended coverage based on my driving patterns. The whole process was easy and comfortable from beginning to end. Follow-through on Jerry's part has been impeccable.

I know the debate over extended warranties is endless, but if anyone is interested in looking at the options and costs, I'd recommend giving Jerry Johnson a call. Here's the contact information:

Factory Warranty

Hello, I am looking to buy a used 2011 Avalon with 22K miles. Would I still get the balance of the original 3years/36k warranty? If so, can I also buy Toyota extended warranty? Thank you

Quote from the 2011 Avalon Warranty & Maintenance Guide, P. 11:

"Warranty coverage is automatically transferred at no cost to subsequent vehicle owners."

I think you can buy the TFS extended warranty at any time while the original 36K warranty is still in force. Check with Toyota to be sure.
