Woops--brakes

I just got my 2005 Avalon and accidentally drove with the parking brake on. It was only for a few seconds as I was straightening out in a parking spot (I parked, got out, got back in, and started adjusting without taking the brake back off). Anyway, it was so little driving but a red light turned on on the dashboard so I'm worried. Does this affect the main braking system or what should I do? I really don't know anything about cars...

Thanks.

The parking brake is separate from the normal braking system. There an integrated drum in the rear rotor for parking brake. The main system is disk/caliper. What light came on?

Well at first I thought the light was a picture of a car with a wrench in it (sounds like it would be really bad) but it's actually a car with a key in it. Not sure what that means. I looked it up in an Avalon manual online and it says it's an "engine immobilizer/theft deterrent system". I haven't driven the car since it happened...

That light flashes when the car is off, its just part of the built in anti theft system. Nothing to worry about, and its highly doubtful you did any damage. The parking brake is pretty robust.

Great thanks! I just got the car today so I was pretty worried (especially when I thought the light showed a wrench and not a key haha)!
