Wood Kit for door and console

Hi guys,

I just bought a real wood steering wheel (Dark Burl), like the ones you see in a Lexus and MB. Currently my 2008 Avalon Touring has the fake carbon fiber looking trims.

Anybody know where to buy some wood trim kit for the 4 doors and 2 pcs trim for the console? I checked the dealer and they can sell the 2 console trims like the one in the Limited. However, they said they cannot order the dollor pieces since it is part of the interior door trim.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Jack

That might be a tough one to find. I'm surprised that Toyota says they can't get it. (maybe another dealership's parts department can help?)

Other than that, perhaps a junk yard? Or maybe an upholstery shop could offer a few ideas?

I just ordered a 42 (?) pc set for my '05 Touring @ ebay.com -- about $165 delivered.
Covers much more than factory wood does
- console, radio, etc, and, almost entire dash (including airbag cover on right side), plus, wraps over onto doors - handles and switchgear.

Various colors, I ordered a light burl.
Might post pix here after it arrives and I install it.

Put the same sort of wood dash kit on my 2000 Avalon XL.
Kit looks great, but, just so you know, after 4-5 years they fade if you keep the car in the sun.
Oh Well....

Hi guys,

Thanks for the advice. Me too, I don't really like the fake cover up wood trim at all. I would rather have the Limited model fake wood trims if I can ever find them in junkyards. I am not also looking at custom dipping option.

BTW, I really want to just cover up the four door and the two console trims.
Not really into cover up the cluster, radion,....

As zee Frech say, "Each one to his taste";
real wood -- which is available at roughyly a 40-50-% premium is the real ticket.
[all puns intended]
As for the ultra tacky yellow non-wood that toyota provided.......... gag
