Children in middle front bench seat
I am considering buying a 2011 Toyota Crew cab with a bench seat in the front. The bench seat comes with a 3 point harness seatbelt and has lots of room for a child, say 5-8 years old. Does anyone know if it is safe to have a child in that seat if the front air bags are deployed? Is there any sensor in the seat, such as with the new Dodge Ram, which shuts off the front air bags if a person less than 80 lbs is detected. If this is also true for Toyota, does that mean the passenger on the outside is no longer protected by an air bag if a child is seated in the middle.
