I purchased 2011 Limited in July. My interior color is tan. I now notice that the perforated leather seats look faded and worned in the certain parts where the driver's and passenage's back rest against; particularly where the lumbar support protrudes from. I start noticing this in August. The car has only 3,500 miles. No passenger of significant weight (over 200 lbs) has ever sat in either seat. The dealer service manager has seen the problem. He said that he emailed the Toyota regional rep. details and he declined to offer to replace the seats covers under the warranty. The service manager gave me Toyota 800 number for customer complaints. I have called Toyota, reported what I have seen, been assigned a case number, and I am currently waiting for someone to call me. Have anyone else experienced this problem?
Wife's 2006 Avalon XL has cracked leather on drivers seat. I attribute this to using the seat heater.
On a different note - that seat is also very noisy moving back and forth with the elect. switch.
Not impressed with Avalon seats.
XLS I assumed? Because XL doesn't have leather as far as I know.
I used the heated seat all the time on our Limited (different texture with holes all over the seat for heat/cool). Where is the cracked on your seat? Do you use any leather conditioner to keep it clean and soft?
As for the loud noise on the seat, since I don't move it often I can't tell what's going on maybe someone else will have better answer. good luck

'06 XL - looks, feels; smells like leather. I see nothing in the owners manual that specifies a synthetic substitute. One WEB site has the '06 Avalon XL equipped with cloth seats - definitely not so in my case.

For what it's worth, after 96000 miles on my '07, my seats are in perfect condition and I never, ever us anything to clean them other than a damp cloth.
Finally got around to going thru the window sticker data that came with my wifes car.
In default mode - the '06 Avalon XL came with cloth seats. Hers are leather. She paid for an "upgrade" as per an addendum document that accompanied the basic sticker sheet.
So '06 XLs can have leather for an additional charge.

+1
66k on my 07. Not even a hint of wear.

in comparison to European car manufacturers, Toyota always had poor quality leather. but i never seen wear this early though. use leather conditioner regularly if your car is parked outside try parking in a shady areas.
The leather in my dad's avalon is complete crap in comparison to mine, has cracks and stress marks on the driver's seat. Also the quality is terrible, very rough and cheap feeling.
