Fix For Limited Seats

Finally, after much discussion on this and other forums, and after removing ventilation fans from under seats,I bit the bullet and paid local upholstery shop $400 to remove front seats and add 1" of the densest foam padding they had to the seats.Upon doing this,I discovered that the foam padding used by Toyota is really cheap stuff, with no resistance whatsoever.Problem solved now;and after recent 600 mile trip,it almost sits as good as my SL500.Girlfriend(not fat) said if it made her butt feel any better,we'd have to stop and address the situation,so I guess it was worth the money.Still think Toyota could have done better for that kind of money.Luck to the rest of you.

I agree with you 100% that Toyota could have done better. What amazes me is the local dealer's service advisers all agree that the fan pushed up into the cushion but they couldn't do anything about it and would charge me to remove the source of the discomfort.

Like I've said before, I don't think there's another Avalon in my future.

I won't go that far,but I will put a lot of thought in the next purchase. This is my first Toyota, and other than the seats, its as good a car as the e class mercedes I have driven since 1988.At my advanced age,my "image" is of no consequence anymore. When you wash down the viagra with metamucil, cars seem a little less important.Cheers!

I have to ask if the 'cheers' was a British-like salutation or if you meant 'down the hatch' with the Viagra and the Metamucil!
