07 NAV Radio Removal Help

Has anyone removed the radio in an 07? I will be installing a Blue Fusion hands free that works with the NAV radio using steering wheel controls. I have to remove the radio to make the connections. I think I have to remove three pieces of trim to get to the radio. I have a Limited so have to remove the trim around the smart key. I will also have to run the mic up to the mirror from the door pillow.

It's a lot easier than you're fearing! Here's how:

1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit

2. Unclip and remove the small trim piece from the left side of panel above the steering wheel. (Wood trim piece) It is removed by prying it out until the clips release.

3. Unclip and remove the panel above the steering wheel (around the key/starter button).

4. Unclip and remove the entire panel surrounding the radio including A/C controls.

5. Remove four 10mm bolts securing the radio.

Installation is the reverse.

Thanks

Thanks Tom. Does the chrome ring around the smart key come off first or does it come off with the pannel?

I can't remember specifically. I'd just proceed with removing the panel (keeping an eye on it) and see what happens.

I took my radio out to put in an adapter. I think you can just disconnect the push button start from behind. Its just a harness that clips in. I disconnected mine with no ill effects and just moved the panel out of the way.

Blue Tooth Hands Free Device

Took the radio out today. It was just as Tom posted. The smart key unplugs from the back as does the mirror button. Installed the Scosche Blue Fusion hands free device in minutes. Works great. Thanks to all.
