Replace HID headlight bulbs

OK, these cars have been out for 7 years now, by now someone here must have
burned out a HID bulb and replaced it themselves.
So, instructions on getting to the bulbs, hints on changing them.
I've seen these bulbs as cheap as $12-$15 a pair on Amazon,
and brand name versions (Sylvania, Phillips, GE) around $45@.
Anyone with experience good -or- bad with various bulb manufacturers?

Avoid the cheap no name garbage. You get exactly what you pay for. Made in china crap. Osram, Sylvania, GE, Philips etc would be what I go with. A $45 dollar HID bulb is going to last another 7 years vs the $15 china made pos which will be dead in 18 months.

I know the drivers side you might have to remove the battery and fuse box to get to the bulb easily

I wouldn't buy cheap light either. I will just check how much the dealer want and you might able to order online from other toyota dealer as well.

Toyota dealer price is in excess of 145 dollars. My local dealer wants 199. Same bulb that you can get on amazon for 45-50.

My understanding is HIDs do not do instant on well and they can not be run at low voltage for the driving lights. That said, it can be done.

Unless you disable the DRL function you will blow the ballast because of the constant low voltage input.
