Hello, I am a new owner of a 2006 Avalon XL. So far (since friday afternoon), the car has been a drem come true. After reading through the forum posts, I hope that I have made the right choice in vehicles. Anyway, I was wondering if I should pursue any of the TSB's on the Avalon? The VVTI has been replaced a year ago with the "improved" rubber hose; I am not experiencing any issue with the steering or any of its components; I am not frustrated with the transmission shifting; and I am not smelling any lingering sulpher smell. My vehicle is Toyota CPO and I have the 7 yr. 100,000 mile extended basic powertrain warranty. The vehicle currently has 56,200 miles on it. I would like to keep it for about 250,000 miles. I really like this car and I just hope that it likes me back!
I'd have a Toyota dealer run the VIN # to make sure all the updates and recalls had been performed, and if not, have them take care of it. Then drive it forever. Good choice in a car.

Other than the VVTI oil line(s), what are the most likely potential problem areas of the 2006 model year avalon? I remember reading that there were 2-3 other trouble areas for oil leakage. Also, do I have until 80,000 miles to address the catalytic converter issue if I so choose? I am just nervous about spending so much on a vehicle, especially since there are some really wacky things that are going wrong with these cars. I always thought Toyotas were built for the long haul.

What issue do you have with the catalytic converter?
Thanks for your replies, I am not having any problems with the car, I just read through the forums and kind of noticed some patterns of malfunction areas for these cars, that's all. This is a great site and I appreciate all of the comments and advice, thanks!
Try to relax and enjoy your new ride. you probably noticed the same thing I did, but it's the same for all special interest boards - the people posting here have varying opinions. Some things affect many cars, but a lot of this will not apply to you. I'd try to spell hypochondriac for an example, but I think I have a spelling problem.
