About to go crazy!!!

I have an 05 XLS and it has a "rattle" that is just about to drive me crazy. It is at my left ear nearer the back door. It only happens when I take off. It sounds a little like a pendlelum. I thought maybe the seatbelt mechanism but it seems further back. I have had the door panels off and felt around in there but I'm afraid of setting off the side airbags. Anyone ever have such a noise? Thanks Tom

do you have anything in the storage compartments in doors- same thing happened to me- drove me nuts- until i found 2 quarters in the doors storage compartments-took out noise gone

Hi....
Had the same rattle that was driving me nuts........it's the rear shock. Toyota had to replace the bushings on the head of the shock, I think. They are familiar with the problem, so it must be another one of our '05 "defects". Once the work was done, the irritating rattle was gone.
