06 avalon, starting in the morning

I have an 06 avalon touring and just recently we noticed that the car doesn't start on the first crank [in the morning] like before. It will start after the second or third try. Does anyone have this same thing happening? Am I doing something wrong? I am doing what the manual says and not depress the accelerator and just start the car. Is there anything I can do to make the car start on the first try like before? thanks

First thing I'd suspect is the battery. Considering that you've had your Avalon 4 years now and that most batteries start giving out at 5 years, it may be your battery is telling you it's time for a change. You could have it tested, but in my opinion I'd go ahead and change it since you experience hot conditions in Hawaii that will prematurely age a battery.

1. Battery - have it tested before you just go & replace it.
2. Idle Air Controller gunked-up. Where does car idle once you get it started?
If it doesn't idle high -- over 1200-1500 rpm for a few minutes, if you let it run (in neutral), then suspect the IAC. Eventually what happens is that the car will start then die immediately.
