Trading Jag X-Type For '07 Avalon...Touring Or Limited???
Good evening all!
I'm a newby here, but have been on jaguarforums.com for quite awhile now. I'm looking to trade my '06 X-Type for an Avalon and have narrowed the field to 2; an '07 Touring and an '07 Limited. Both have equal miles (mid-60's) and are only $800 apart from each other. The Toruing is a Toyota Certified Pre-Owned and the Limited is not.
I will say that I like the Limited better, however, I am somewhat intrigued by the Toyota CPO program.
From reading the posts here, there don't seem to be a whole lot of issues. When I go to the X-Type forum, there seem to be nothing but issues, so hopefully my perception is correct in that Toyota will bring me better reliability.
As proud Avalon owners (I assume you are if you're reading this), what should I be looking out for or considering when chosing between these 2 vehicles.
Thanks and I look forward to hearing some feedback and becoming an Avalon owner.
The CPO is great but you can look online an purchase the factory warranty from toyota at a discount. I am a new avalon owner, I had a 2005 745LI it was in the shop too much. Once it went off warranty it had to go. I have a limited and I love it. If you do get the one with the CPO ask about the Toyota extended warranty and don't pay full price for it. When I purchased my car a couple of weeks ago I went in the Toyota dealership with a print out from the warranty I found online and they sold me the extended warrenty for $1 over there cost. I paid $726 for a 84month/75,000 extended warranty. But that was for the CPO cars only.
The differences between the two models is pretty much summed up this way; the Limited is loaded up with every feature and rides a bit smoother than the Touring edition. Having said that, and having put 100k miles on my Limited and lots of miles on rental Touring editions - I'd choose the Limited again.
I had a quick look at the Limited at Vandergriff online and by heading to Austin or Conroe, I'm saving about $4000...woth the drive for me.
Is the Limited that much more exclusive than the Touring, or are they both pretty much equal. I see tighter suspension on the Touring, but a better stereo on the Limited...
I hate woodgrain trim....
I hate floating soft suspensions....
I hate flashy....
I like understated austere looks....
I like a tighter sportier suspension.....
I drove a Lincoln Continental instead of a Town Car for 176,000 miles for these same reasons.
I hope this helps. Just my 2 cents. Either way, you are getting the best value in a luxuary sedan on the road today in my opinion.

I was recently in the buying process and will try to give a few brief thoughts on the differences.
The leather in the Touring is black, unlike the Limited (usually). To me and a few friends the black leather doesn't look as nice after minimal use.
The Touring has a few less seat adjustments (maybe just the seat length). It also doesn't have the wood trim on the steering wheel and interior, which I think makes it look a lot better.
The SmartKey feature is great, and I think it's included on the Limited and an option on the Touring. The Limited also has the bluetooth. The laser radar cruise control is my favorite feature by far, but is an option on both. It's easily identified by the lower left button on the steering wheel, which sets the distance. I don't know if the Touring has rain sensing wipers or not, but those are really nice on the Limited. They both have HID headlights.
It's all personal opinion and I'm sure there's people who disagree with me, but I feel the Limited is a much nicer car on the interior and has some great options the Touring doesn't. Having been through the process I'm very glad I went for the Limited instead of the Touring.
If you post links to the cars you're looking at I'm sure a few people would be willing to look at them and give you input. Good luck.

Very good points. It's a great car regardless but the trim level is personal opinion. Being happy with your choice is what really matters.
Also, when the original poster compares this to his Jag he will be quite happy. I have a couple older Land Rovers I love but are a lot of work to keep up. This car is care free. So well put together.
OH man FROM JAG to Av..LIMITED THERE IS NO OTHER WAY.My 2cents..Check out my signature below..I have almost all available aftermarket parts on the AvaDon.You wont be disappointed.
