stuttering on acceleration without check engine light !
hey guys
i own a 05 limited without the nav ,,194k
lately the car was stuttering and shaking only when i touch the acceleration pad and theres no sign of check engine at all ! ive been suffering from this for a whole month was too busy to take it to the dealer!!
so anyway i cant go past 60kmh except if i force the car slowly to accelerate to 120kmh which it takes ages and lots of stress to push the padal slowly and in down hill mode to do it
the car is shaking and in shitty condition like if the wheels bolts are lose ! and only it happins once i touch the acceleration padal! once the car builds few kms ... u can notice it from 40 and mostly 60 standard excessive vibration and can push the gas due to the hesitation and stuttering ...
so ive herd about the coils issues here lately and i bought one and tested the easy 3 front coils and nothing changes altho 4 months ago ive replaced the sparkplugs and they seem fine .. but the glitch is i didnt check the rear coils ! its so crazy trying to access there !
anyway i talked too much iam just too upset regarding this issue so any enlightenment gurus !?
Lol sounds like you are driving with e-brake, depress the e-brake pedal :P
All (attempts at) joking aside - this guy is asking for help here.
I read your post earlier today but really don't have any suggestion to give other than to have the computer codes read. I don't know if you have other options other than to take it to the Toyota dealer.
You can try the remove and replace method to diagnose the issue (like replacing three of the six coils) and never find the problem. Find the problem first and you'll likely save a lot of money in the process.
...I'm pretty sure that having the ebrake on doesn't cause the engine to shake so rule that out...
Well I wasn't really joking, one of my friends asked me a while ago, and she was like "Hey, my car can't go past 30mph and it takes so long to accelerate" then she described the same *stuttering* and as if the wheels are going to fall off.
I had no idea until someone else who was on the scene saw that the ebrake was engaged, not all the way, but enough to cause that, and apparently that's what happens if you drive if ebrake on (not fully pressed).
Plus if there was something wrong with the engine then as long as it is running, there will be some sort of shaking, he described the shaking to start when gas pedal is pressed, and to be honest his description of the problem is almost word for word of my friend's.

Sorry - I'm not buying it. An engine will not shake because it's working against the ebrake anymore than it will when it's going up a steep hill. The only brake related shaking or stuttering that I can think of would be caused by severely warped rotors - but that would have no effect on a car's ability to accelerate.
You'd do well not to listen to the tall tales of your 'friend' - in my humble opinion...
Go press your ebrake in maybe 1/3? then go driving, you won't be able to go past 30mph without excessive vibration. I didn't believe it either until I was shown (we all made fun of her for driving with ebrake on, we thought it would drag the tires so much that she would have to be a clutz not to notice), and no the ebrake and brake were not worn.
Oh and the shaking won't begin until you are past maybe 15mph? or something like that..
He never said his engine was shaking either, one could infer that, but all he really states is that there are a lot of stuttering, vibrations, and seems like the tire's bolts are loose (when pedal is pressed), technology have advance to the point where any major or minor engine problems will light up the check engine light, 2005 avalon is fairly new...

arghh damn it ! i tho someone had the same issue and would explain .. anyway thanks guys i just booked for a toyota check up on sat and will see what happins its a very weird problem i mean i used to own and rebuild my 95 supra turbo 2jzgte and ive encountered many issues and i fixed them by myself .. but this car arghhh !
I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that there's a problem with the throttle position sensor (TPS). Let us know what the problem turns out to be.

And I'll vote for the Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF).
-- But both of these should show up in a scan, and as a Check Engine light.
