Driver seat Assembly = 6,630$!

Hi guys

1st of all thanks for the great job being done here in this forum. I just found this forum and thought you might be interested in hearing my hilarious although painful too story

I own a Toyota Avalon 2006 Limited car and few months ago I had an accident that resulted in some damages that were all fixed, except for a part in my driver seat called "Seat Assembly". First, I was informed by the service center that this part will cost me $6,630 which is about 1/3 of the car price! I found it very much hard to believe and went to see the manager of the service center and the dealership but both said this is how much it costs! Does this sound ok to you guys or is it not just me that finds this ridiculous? Thanks to them I am starting to feel some pain in my back but wth, it's just not worth it spending this much on a silly part like that.

Any of you guys have any helpful advice? Is there anyway your local dealership sells it in a different price? I am really clueless!

Plenty of used seats in good condition from $100-$650.

6K for a seat? LOL! I believe it from a dealer. I will NEVER buy anything besides a car or a relatively inexpensive specialty item that I absolutely cannot find elswhere from a dealer... total ripoff.

I just totaled my 06 Limited before christmas. The 1st quote from the insurance was $9500 fix (side air bag out from psg side), both doors busted... Anyway, after body shop took out more panels, the GM told me the part itself will cost more than $10K.

In your case, if you try to get the part from Toyota, $6K is possible but still a little high. Since the Limited has heated/cooled feature. I think your option is to find it from wrecking yard (too bad you are not in the seattle area, otherwise, you would pick up from my wreck). Or you can try to talk with some body shops and see if you can get the seat from other sources. Good luck.

Isn't a 'seat assembly' the whole damned thing? Is your seat that damaged that the whole thing needs replacing? Unless it's really, really trashed, why wouldn't a good upholstery shop be able to repair the damage? I'm assuming there are some good car customizer shops near you that could help you out.
