Rear defroster?

Just picked up a '05 w/71k miles a couple weeks ago. Lotsa reading and research led me to an Avalon. Traded in a VERY clean '99 Lexus GS300 with only 62k miles for it. Loved the Lexus, but wanted to get back to front wheel drive for the snow here in Utah. Rear drive with traction control just ain't the same no matter what "they" say!
Anyway, been going thru the usual issues I find on this forum. I do have the noisy steering column, so will get that tended to soon. And I'm going to go ahead and have that oil line replaced before I get a leak.
Question here, is the rear window defroster REALLY that bad, or do I have a prob? It just seems to take a half hour to clear frost off the back window. Literally!
TIA!

Congrats on the ride.

It sounds like there may be an issue with your rear window defroster. Mine will melt the frost on the outside of the window within a few minutes. Not sure how to diagnose it though.

Ok, thanks! I'll get it looked at. Haven't seen one this slow to work for 20 years. Thought maybe Toyota had gone cheap, or something.
