Can I replace HID with regular headlamps?

I have a nice 2007 avalon that was in a light front end accident that took out both headlamps completely. I am rebuilding using factory parts and just want to get the headlamps together as cheaply as I can.

Anyone know if I can just bypass the HID ballasts and install regular lamps/bulbs? Will that mess with the lamp level controller? I have no problem installing the correct matching halogen relays; I just think that trying to rebuild the HID back to factory specs could get costly at this point

Any input appreciated.

Bump...I am sure there some people who have done a conversion to upgrade to a factory HID-any input on going back to standard? Will I throw headlight level codes or run into major wiring headaches?

Actually, I don't know of anyone that's done an upgrade to a factory HID setup. That would be cost prohibitive when you compare it to an aftermarket HID setup. That might be why you're not getting a response. Why not just find an aftermarket replacement HID and retain not only the designed-for-HID assembly, but also the self-leveling feature? You'll also save yourself the headache of trying to figure out how to 'de-feature' your car in the process.

ddmtuning.com is where i got my replacement HID's. it's much easier to do it that way than to retrofit/downgrade your vehicle to accept
halogens.

Bulbs themselves are $15/pair and a kit is $45

No you can not, the wiring for a oem xenon system is different than that of a regular filament bulb. remember that a regular bulb is plugged into the wiring harness, in a xenon setup the wiring harness is plugged into the ballast then the ballast is plug to the xenon bulb.
