Question Problem with remote after changing battery...

I have a 2009 Avalon XLS with the all-in-one remote (not SmartKey) It started getting weak and would take a few times to unlock the car, so I changed the battery. After changing the battery, the red led blinks, but nothing happens when I press any of the buttons. I took my other remote apart to make sure I hadn't reassembled it wrong. Looked fine, the second remote works fine but the one with the new battery doesn't do anything. Any and all assistance will be appreciated. BTW, the batteries listed in the owners manual were not the ones in the key fob. Both key fobs had 2025's. Thanks!

Try swapping the batteries between the two fobs to see if the problem moves with the 'new' battery. Wouldn't be the first time a new battery was dead.

Uh oh, Just put my meter on the old battery. Reads 3 volts, so the problem isn't the battery. Any suggestions?

Perhaps scuff the contacts where the touch the battery. Nail file, emory paper or fine-grit sandpaper. Then slightly bend the contact to apply a bit more pressure. Beyond that I'm at a loss other than to declare it 'broke'.

if the red light blink, the battery is good and the radio is sending signal. wonder if you need to reprogram the remote. (sorry, don't know how)
