I installed the USAspec myself on my 2006 XLS. Quite easy, about a 2 hour job.

IPOD adapter install on 2006 Avalon

Here's what it takes to remove the radio headunit:
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent an accidental short circuit
  • Unclip and remove small trim piece from left side of the panel above the steering wheel (the wood or metal trim piece).
  • Unclip and remove the panel above the steering wheel (the piece that surrounds the start button/ignition keyhole)
  • Unclip and remove entire panel surrounding the radio including the A/C controls.
  • Remove four (4) 10-mm bolts securing the radio.
  • Installation is the reverse of the above.
"Unclip" means to pull the panel forward. I pried mine off gently with a small screwdriver wrapped in a cloth.

yea i got nav....i think when people were having trouble with text it was the PA15....I Used The PA20....I Dont Have Problem With Text...Its only 10 characters long...not a problem cuz i know what it means....My ONLY beef with it is i cant scan thru albums...i see it forces u to make a playlists...i can deal with that cuz it sounds 1000x better than that fm ipod bullshit

Amen to that!

You also have the option of setting your iPod (or MP3 player) to 'shuffle' and let it play. That's what I do. My 20gb iPod holds about 3000 songs - that keeps me going for a few months!

Text does not scroll and cuts off at ten characters. Does work with JBL/Nav according to their website:

I see people selling a cable for this kit on eBay saying that this will make the steering wheel controls work. Do I need this cable or will it work with just the kit?
