Unfortunately....Avalonia Was Reversed Into By Some Dick..Who Then Hit The Gas On Me...She Got Locked In Drive And Couldnt Move...I Lost The Left Headlight, front fender, hood is done...no engine damage tho...ill hear from insurance tmrw...now my question is to the TN Fam is...Would U Trade In The Car?? How Reliable Is A Car After Accident...And How Much Is The Value Decreased....Oh And Of Course Im More Than Ok Health Wise...I Flew Out The Door Split Second After Impact...No Air Bags Pops Out Either
I think it's going to depend on how bad the damage is. If it is as light as you say, left headlight, fender, and hood, and some minor things, then I'd keep the car. It will be just fine, mostly cosmetics. If the damage is more serious and it affected drivability, then I'd probably trade it in. Regardless of the damage, the value will be affected down the road. Minor damage-value won't drop too badly. Major damage-value drops tremendously.
See what your insurance says, and wait to see how bad the damage is.

Good to heard you're okay. As long as there's no drivetrain or sub-frame damage, the vehicle will be just as reliable as before. It's just cosmetic damage and as long as the body repair is done professionally, it should be fine. Judging by your description, the radiator support some likely have to pulled out and repair. But pictures will help a lot. I know many insurance companies will write it off if there's any damage to the firewall which seem unlikely in your case.
Im thinking of getting rid of it...if i do ill just get another one....really hits the heart tho...first car first big purchase....ill post pics after some good news
^If the damage is minor why get rid of it? Fix it and keep it. I've driven a couple cars that have been damaged....when my Camry had 400 miles someone who was pissed at their husband chucked a gin bottle in a parking lot and accidentally hit my car, destroying the windshield and putting in a few dents and paint chips.
All cosmetic. You think I would have gotten rid of it then? Nah.....that's peanuts.

well, sounds bad but not too bad. As for unloading the car after accident? Ask what are you going to get and will you trust 'someone' else car?
If you owned your Avalon for a while, you know how good/bad it is. Better keep it and see how it 'drive' after the fix. I would not sell it just because of the accident.
Let's face it, many used cars on the road probably has some kind of accident, fender bender, parking lot side swip... and many small body work never gotten to carfax or autocheck. Unless a lot of damage and frame work, I would just keep it and drive it for few more years to recap the loss value.
Had Her For 6 months on the 29th.....2 Tow Truck/Repair People Say Its Not Totaled....No Frame Damage...Just Some Plastic Pieces and some welding...And NEw Radiator...wont get a quote til thursday....keeping fingers crossed
When I say ied replace it thats just me.I put alot into my cars to look and ride how i want so once i get hit in em they are not the same in my eyes ill always know it was repaired etc.Yes some stuff is simply fixable some to me is just to much to over look.
also look at it this way. How much you paid for your Avalon and if you sell (assume w/accident reported on carfax) how much will you get? Even if you sell right after the fix, carfax might not have accident shows up yet but do you want to unload the car to someone else without telling?
Think about what you will get on the sale vs how much you paid and what will/can you get from the sale. Then decided what to do. Just remember to pick a GOOD body shop. Especially for the silver car, color match is critical.
RIP Avalonia.....She Didnt Make It.....Good First Fucking Car....Im Looking For Another One Right Now As We Speak....13k In Damage,Car Worth 17k....She Just Hit 70k Miles....Not For Nothing I Got Rims For Her,a system and my usa spec ipod piece....Think I Want a 08 Now.....Thanx U To Everybody That Helped With Tips N Advice...Ill Be Back
i was financing this car...when they write the check for the total loss....do they just pay what i owe the bank or do i recieve what they claim the car is worth??
