I Have My 12" sub hooked with a 1,000 watt amp....everything is all wired up except for the remote wire....I'm trying figure out what to tap into...Or Any Other Suggestion??
I've seen 100w systems installed in older 126 Merces-Benz cars eat batteries. Std. 60A-80A amp alt. replaced with 100A alt and problems with maintaining adequate battery charge continued.
Unplug the sound system amp and situation reversed.
Now I hear about something 10x greater in wattage. Has alternator output increased in relation to wattage by 10 fold?
I realize there have been technological advancements, but..........
My Thing Is This Mike...What Your Saying Makes Sense....But Thats What The Remote Wire Is For...Its Not Continuous,Its Cuttin It Off n On....But I Guess U Do Kno A Lil Something...But Its Not Fryin....Also Update On The Sounds....I Got The Remote Goin Into The AC Lighter Fuse...Would That Work??....Well Its Working...But Will It Blow Or Malfunction?? Its a 15 amp fuse
What you are doing is interesting and admittedly I'm not up to speed on sound systems - just basic electrical matchup.
You say there's some cut out going on. Is a capacitor(maybe not the right terminology) employed in the circuit to keep a consistent flow of current during the phase-out/cut-off?
Voltage x amperage = wattage
Turn on the sound system; then fire up a Marlboro.

The remote wire is used to turn the amp OFF when you turn off the car and on wen the car is turned on.So the amp does not draw power wen the car is off.Ive ad this in my car for the whole time ive owned it and no issues with the battery.
And Your System Will BLOW My Shit Out The Water....So If Yours Is Still Up And Running...Mines Should Have No Problems...but Let Me Ask U...Where Do You HAve Your Remote Wire Hooked At??

I admit I did not install this myself.Since i had the crazy 2way alarm remote start unit installed the same day i had a PRO do this.I would guess you need it connected to something that is ONLY ON when the ignition is powered on too. Also my Amp is a SUPER mono which means it draws less power. My buddy has the same subs but different amp in his 2007 charger and his lights dim when the beat hits.MINE DOES NOT.AND STILL HE HAS NO ISSUES with his battery.
Ok....My Dude Will Figure It Out...Hes Not Worried Bout Battery Power...Im Just Using One..And Still Keeping Factory HU.....Still Researching.....Heres a Few Pics

I also kept the factory HU.You'll be fine.I see you actually have a trunk after adding the box SHIT mine i can fit a small stroller and some bags thats about it.My amp is mounted first then the box so i can quick disconnect the wire and remove the box IN-CASE I NEED TO.The box and subs are just under 100 pounds.
