Is Toyota Paint prone to roadchipping?

I have a 2011 Toyota Avalon Limited, in the Zephyr blue color, and my car only has 1000 or so miles on it and already on the front bumper I've noticed at least 10 chips in the paint on the front bumper! My 2007 Avalon Touring had them but they weren't as noticeable. Is there any way to protect the paint?

The Dealership sells something similar to this product, but the dealship is very expensive. Hope this helps. Toyota factory paint has really gone down for durability.

you can use clear 3M paint protector film. My old 06 has it and it keep the paint in top condition. However, the film should apply when the car is new.

What I would do is try to at least get the chips fixed, then get the clear "nosemask" put on. Usually it will come with a 5 year warranty if professionally applied.

It's okay to add it after you've had the car awhile. But usually the newer, the better.

If it's feasible, look into repainting your hood and blending in the fenders because of some paint fade. Then get it done

Ive got 6000 miles on mine (all highway) and I have a few chips (blizzard pearl). Honestly though, this seems to be a problem with most new cars. My BMW has much worse, deeper nasty chips. More like scars on the hood. I thought about getting the 3M thing done, but its only a lease so I chose not to.

I don't see why you couldn't just clay the car if it's older paint then apply the mask.

I guess you could but I would take arabianobsession's advice and have it repaint before doing the mask, unless there are only few small chip.

Overall I have to say most new cars will have same problem for rock chip, not just Toyota.

I have the exact same color as the OP I live on a dirt/gravel and my hood looks like somebody took a fully auto BB gun to my paint. I thought about trying that doctor paint chip or color chip or whatever it’s called anybody have any experience with that? Or maybe something that works? Thanks!

I have a few paint chips on the hood of my 07 Avalon, but the worst thing is the bug residue on the plastic bumper and mirrors. I didn't know that the bugs' enzymes will etch the paint, but I'm a believer now.

^That's why every time I come back from a trip I always head to the car wash right away, to scrub all those nasty bugs off before they ruin the paint. I have a sponge I bring along so I get them off
