I love my Avalon. However, I have a chance to drive a 2007 LS 460 every once in awhile and it is a whole different level of comfort. It all depends on what you want to do with the car, but I would take the LS 460 in a heartbeat.
No question in my mind - go for the Avalon. Better fuel mileage, lower insurance, use of 87-octane fuel, lower service costs AND you'll get a warranty on the Avalon and perhaps none with the used Lexus.
Yea What Tom Said....That 460 Is A Big Boy...Love The New One...But If Ur Thinking Economically....Go Wit The Avy..I Personally Hate The Grill/Front End On It....But A Avys a Avy...What Color?

Ok, so this has likely been discussed but I haven't seen much, and well I'm wondering what folks think.
A new 2011 Avalon Limited $37,000 (Trading in my 2008 Touring Edition Avalon) getting $16,500 for my trade or
2008 LS 460 L with 48,000 miles for $39,900 and getting $15,000 for my trade or
2007 LS 460 with 42,000 miles on it for $35,000 and getting $15,000 for my trade.
Older Lexus with mileage or new Avalon with no miles?
I put on 35,000 + miles a year (my 2008-bought in 2009, has 65,000+ on it)

Skip, you should be able to get an Avalon Limited w/nav for well under 37k. The deals are not quite as good as they were a few months ago, but you should still be able to get one in the 34k range. Invoice is just about 34 and there is over $1000 in holdback/finance reserve.
BTW: I have the pearl white Avalon too, with the black/bordeaux interior. Cant beat that combo!

That's funny. Because the 2007 Lexus LS 460 I'm going to try tomorrow is in Bedford, MA.
Skip
Im not close to where you are headed, but I know some good people at Lexington Toyota which is the next town over from Bedford. 15 mins or so from I95. If you're interested Ill set something up for you.
Thanks for the offer, let me check it out, and do a test drive, and see what they offer. Then I'll consider bring to a dealer to have them check it over.
The last thing I want to do, is get it, and find out it needs a brake job or something like that.
Sure thing. That Lexus is going to be awfully hard to pass up once you take it for a spin! Toyota does have the complimentary maintenance program if that can be any persuasion.
I once compared Avalon Limited vs Lexus LS and once you test drive the Lexus, it's hard to let go. You can feel WOW right away compare to yourr current ride. Kind of like driving a camry and jump ship to Avalon.
They are different cars and the reason we are comparing them at this point is "price". I would take the 07 LS460 (in your case). Each now having owned 2 Avalon Limited, I still check out LS430 once a while.
I can't get a LS at this point because I need the rear seat space. I plan to move up to the LS someday.
Do remember it will cost more on insurance, regular up keep and if you are getting the LS, you should have it sleep in your garage at night, not on the street or driveway
