Have you considered getting the rotors resurfaced? Toyota pads can be NBK or Akebono Pro-ACT(you will see AK-XXXXetc, written on the pads). I think Akebono Street Performance or Hawk HPS(alot of brake dust) is comparable to TRD pads.

For sure, especially if they never have been before.

For what it's worth - my rotors were resurfaced at 100k miles. But brake life is really based on driving style. Most of my miles are freeway (almost 90%). A brake shop can measure the rotors and tell you if there's enough meat remaining to allow a resurfacing.

I've installed Centric HP, Toyota and Brembo. Stay away from "Made in CHina, Thailand, Vietnam or India" generics. They casting is problematic and rotors don't last. I installed slotted/crossed-drilled on front with TRD. Great braking performance if you do alot of stop and go. Akebono also a good pad. Don't forget to flush your entire brake system every 24-30,000 miles. It's preventive maintenance, but adds life to your ABS and calipers. Good luck!

Hey CISA93,

Where did you get your TRD rotor? I am interested on my 08 Touring. How much was it?
Thanks.

Sorry, I meant to say TRD pads. I got my rotors from an online brake suppliers. I tired one of the online tire places, but they had the specs for the 04 Avalon. Your front brakes do most of the work (about 60-70% of the braking is done with the front rotors...ever notice the size of the rotor vs. the rear rotors?) If you go TRD pads, there is a break in period. Don't forget to flush your entire brake system every 24-30,000 miles. Keeps calipers living longer and keeps brake fluid operating temperature at it's peak! Good luck
