GPS Info
My curiosity has gotten the better of me. When I bought my '08 Avalon I specifically picked one that did not have navigation. However, a week ago I purchased a Garmin unit. My curiosity is how does the map get all of its information. For example, when I'm driving down our local highway US 270 the Garmin tells me the speed limit is 55; then when it changes to 45 within a few yards the Garmin indicates 45; and so on. How does it know. How did all those billions of little pieces of information get into the map?
By the way, I understand it was a good choice not to have the navigation in the Avalon back in '08 but I only found out about that afterwards by reading this forum.
