OUTSIDE TEMP Display--Is this normal operation?

2008 Avalon XLS---I bought this (pre-owned) car 6 months ago and never paid much attention to how the "Outside Temp" is displayed. When I started it today in the garage, the display said the Outside Temp was 75 degrees F. The actual outside temp was 100 degrees F. As I continued to drive the car, the temp displayed would only update every 4 minutes or so and then only by 1 or 2 degrees at a time. After 30 minutes of driving, the display finally reached the actual outside temperature of 100 degrees F. Is this normal operation?

It's possible that since you had you vehicle parked in your garage, the sensor was at the temp of the inside of your gargage, As you drove outside, the temp sensor started to warm up and simply took time to adjust to the ambient outside temp.

Hot...cold...overall that's pretty much how mine has always operated. Mine seems to update faster, though, about once a minute maybe.

The only time mine seems slow to change is after going through the auto car wash on a warm/hot summer's day.

My observations are that same. Slow to respond - hot or cold. But it seems pretty accurate.
