'06 Touring VSC Light On - No Check Engine Light

I've got an '06 Touring w/ ~ 130k miles on it. My wife has been complaining this week that the rear end seems to move / shift when she hits a bump. She called me this morning and told me that the VSC light just came on, but without a corresponding check engine light coming on.

In searching, most instances of the VSC light coming on are accompanied by the check engine light as well. This isn't the case for us. I have an appt. to take it to the dealer on Monday of next week, but would like to have a guess as to what may be wrong before I go in. Anyone have an idea??

Thanks...

If you believe what you read on the WEB - one of the most mundane things to cause this is overfilling the gas tank - topping up.

If that's the case - cycling the system by removing/reinstalling battery ground strap might help.

Other than that - there's a multitude of things that can cause the VSC light to come on.

Took it to my local tire place to see if they could spot anything and it turned out to be a broken rear toe arm. That explains the movement in the rear of the car and the VSC light.
