A/C blows how hot air on driver side and cold air on passenger side

I have a 2005 Avalon Limited. Just recently when I have the air turn on, it blows warm/hot air on the drivers side where the passenger side is cold as ice??? What gives???

I have the dual zone feature, and the drivers site is warm weather its on dual zone or regular.
Please HELP!!!!

Most likely the door that diverts air between the driver and passenger sides is not functioning properly. However, it's not impossible the issue could also be due to a low charge in the A/C system. Definitely take your Avalon to the dealer or private mechanic and have them check out the A/C system charge first before going through the time and labor of trying to access the diverter assembly.

On older cars one would suspect that a fresh air blend door was open - allowing for too great a mix of outside air to mix with chilled air coming from the evaporator fan.

Yours(2005) and others are far more complex. I doubt this is your problem.

Hate to say it, but with the complexities of today's climate control systems, you're going to need to seek help from someone who's been thoroughly trained to trouble-shoot this situation. Could be a multitude of things and I'd bet they're electronic in nature.

You have two air mix control dampers; one for the driver's side and one for the passenger side that are independently controlled and operated by electric servo motors. It sounds like your a/c is operating fine since you get cold air on the passenger side. I'd suspect that the air mix damper on the driver's side is not functioning. The dealer has a tester for checking the function of all the different sensors, servos, etc. Before you do that, look under the dash on the driver's side, up to the right just under the water hoses on the side of the ventilation system. That is where the driver's side air mix servo is located. Look for wires and the connector that plug into the servo and make sure they are plugged in. They actually can get kicked loose. See if that fixes your problem. If not, then I'd leave it the dealer to replace the servo. Good luck!
