Center Console Door Removal

Anyone know how to remove the center console door (2011 Avalon)? I had a credit card fall down behind the door when I opened it. I believe if I could remove the door it could be found.

Not sure how the door comes off, but here's something I'd try first. Move the seats fully forward and you should have access to two phillips head screws on either side of the rear console...the one with the armrest. Take those out and you should have room to look in that area under that console door. My guess is that your card is laying in that space. Let us know how it works.

Even though my Avalon is an earlier model, after looking at it I'd suggest either purchasing the FSM or purchasing a two-day subscription to Toyota's TIS. I suspect the instructions would either be stand-alone or included in the instrument panel/dashboard removal instructions. However, I doubt if the time and expense are worth it, just have the credit card company send you another card and be done with it.

Nope, that didn't work. I removed the screws, both sides, but nothing moved. It appears that the whole piece wraps around the console. It might clip somehow but I didn't want to force it and break anything.

Thanks guys. Maybe it will be of value on a trade at a later time.

Registered just to post this, since I've gotten a lot of info from lurking.

To remove the center console there's the two screws on the side that are accessed with the seats forward and then two 10 mm bolts that are under the carpet in the main storage area under the armrest. There are also two catches on either side of the front, where it connects to the lower part where the cup holders/gearshift is. You might need to remove the trim on the lower center console, which involves prying up the faux wood starting in the back and working forward. I had found a guide, I think in one of the ipod adapter threads which had pictures on how to do it. Good luck, if you haven't already cancelled the card. Also, this helps for getting things out of the cup holder's retractable lid space. There was a pen in there when I bought the car and for years I thought the Toyota engineers were idiots since all the drinks were pushed to the right.
