Shop manual

I'm looking for an OEM shop manual for my 06 Avalon. Anyone here know where you can get them at a decent price. I've seen the eBay ads for $10 CD, does anyone here have any experience with the CD version of the manuals?

I would rather have the printed books, but a CD would work also.

Nice. The good thing about them is when Toyota releases new data, they get it, such as TSB's, updated procedures, part lists etc. I think its pretty cheap to have access to that vs a static book or cd that never gets updates.

You can also go to this Toyota Tech site and download all there is to download for your vehicle using a short-term subscription. Costs a few bucks.

Those sites cover pretty much everything? Will they show you how to reprogram the smart key or TPMS as a full section or no info at all on them?

$14/yr wasn't bad

Yes it is a great deal, but to be honest with you I would rather have the printed shop manuals. I too am old school like that.

I agree with the books! I like the factory manual because it's just so much more specific (vs. the generic named ones) . I just installed bushings, balls joints, ect on my daughter's Nissan 4x4 Pathfinder (it was my car before) The Nissan-factory manual was great for torque specifications, ect. The dealerships now have laptops and have SOME books. It costs less for them to put it on a computer. I've used ALL DATA system and it's great with all the info. You just need to print out the pages you need for the specific job. Having the books as a back-up is a a good precautionary measure because computers DO crash....!
