Tsb eg033-07

I own a 2005 Avalon, having bought it a little over a year ago. I have never felt it shifted too well and recently started having oxygen sensor issues.

This let me to find TSB EG033-07 and it seemed to fit my car to a "T" and I took it into a dealership and asked them to check it out against the TSB.

No big surprise, but the dealership said it didn't. They said some thing about the calibration number beind out of range for the TSB. The calibration ID's covered were 30701000, 30701100 and mine was 30701200.

Is this a bunch of BS or am I missing something. It seemed to be that the TSB applied to all 2005 Avalons and the calibration ID is just what the software has been set at.

Am I being given a run around and what do the calibration ID's mean?

thank you for your help.

The calibration ID designates the software revision level of the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Open the hood and look for a label glued to the underside of the hood near the left (driver's) side hinge. If there is a label, it means the PCM software was modified and the technician should have written a calibration number on it.

The TSB says it applies to ALL '05 Avalons, regardless of calibration ID. However, presence of the label may mean the work outlined in the TSB has already been performed. It could also mean the PCM was re-flashed and the procedure not performed. The label should have the TSB printed at the bottom if previously performed.

Thank you for the information.

There is not sticker, so nothing has changed. The way I read the TSB is that is was for all 05 Avalons.

The direct quote from the paper work is
"The TSB that was supplied pertains to vehicles with calibration #'s 30701000 and 30701100. The calibration id # on this vehicle is 3071200 and does not apply to this vehicle"

The TSB is EG033-07. So I guess they are going to play me for the stupid customer who doesn't know anything technical.

Thanks again
Rick
