Avalon and other Toyota rusty brake rotor

Here is the pic of our rear brake rotor (05 Avalon Limited)
Same problem on our then 04 Sienna.

The rear brake rust, I know it's not a big deal but wonder if it's a sign of poor quality on the metal? or the paint surface? What's your take?

Nothing to worry about unless you just find it unsightly. You'll wear the rotor down to nothing before that rusts through.

You live in Seattle, right? Isn't everything rusty?
It's unsightly - but fortunately mostly out of sight. But also can be noisy when moisture gets on the braking surface. Are those OEM? I just replaced my fronts with the most expensive Brembos I could find, hoping to get a decent mix of steel - to maybe avoid that nasty morning noise.

Although it rains often rust just isn't a problem
Flood and landslide are

The rotor is original and as I said before it isn't affecting how the brake works, it just look ugly and it's seem to be very common on toyota.

Talking about Brembos brakes, I don't really trust online seller from eBay since many cars with Brembos option sell for thousands more then regular, how can online seller sell it for so cheap. eBay Brembos = knockoff.

For my Toyota, I will stick with OEM rotor (again from Toyota dealer, not eBay seller, just too many bad experience from the past )

I was going to do 100% OEM, but NAPA had the Brembos for a fair price. I did do the OEM pads though, by advice of my mechanic.

I learned my lesson by going to a local brake shop for a cheap brake job (with a coupon from their mail ad). Cheap brake pad which last about 9 months with terrible noise so since then, I just use OEM.

I still use aftermarket pads from NAPA on my 88 Suburban though (still cost $45/set)
