Muffler?

I know this might be a bad question but would a magnaflow universal muffler fit on a 06 Limited? I would assume it would but I want to know if anyone has attempted it. I want to get a somewhat decent growl out of the engine but not blow a fortune on a custom exhaust system. I know that the muffler, pipes, and manifold play a facotr into the sound and the mufflers seem like the easiest to change.

I'm sure you can find something relatively close to the stock size that you can have a muffler shop weld the appropriate hangers to.

I assume since the avy is built off the camry platform, the v6 setup is the same. So if a camry had a aftermarket exhaust system, it would fit the avy reletively same?

Avalon platform is stretched compared the camry. Hard to say.

I used the 50 series (I believe). used the same hangers, chrome tips, ect (I had a friend at a muffler shop do this for me), cut off the stock mufflers, but left the large resonator upstream. Otherwise, he claimed the car would have that "cheesy" fart-in-a-can sound" There is a slight rumble at idle and I did notice a few positive things...I won't post them, but I'll let you post them once you've installed these mufflers, we'll see. Good luck!

Could you explain what you mean by the resonator upstream? And is the chrome exhaust tip supposed to slide over stock muffler outlet because my avy looks like that. The tip seems just to slide over the outlet and is secured by screws or something.

After the "Y" pipe (where it joins under the engine/transmission, there should be a round resonator about 18-20" in length as the pipe runs towards the back of the vehicle The chrome tips from my Avalon were slipped on held only by a semi-compression band with no bolt/screw. I transferred everything over to the Magnaflows.
