Engine tick when cold

I know this is an old thread, but few concerns I live in FL and 2mnt ago bought an 06 limited Avalon with 47k miles. the ticking noise wasn't bad but now its gotten louder no mater if the car is cold or warm you can hear it ticking like a diesel. Could that be the valve train?

it could but ya should bring it to a toyota dealer to find out. Unfortunately, it may not be under warranty depending on when the first owner purchased the vehicle - under the 5-yr 60K pwertrain warranty. had an 06 and it had the same soundbut I wasn't aare of the TSB if it were published when I had the vehicle.

If you purchased the vehicle at a Toyota dealer, then you should start there as it's only been two months.

This is a complete top-end engine tear-down and re-assy to replace a guide - a very expensinve proposition if this is the problem.

I am going to move this into the avalon forum - members there amy be of more help with personal experience.

We bought the car from porsche dealer, I'm gonna do research to see if the car has 6yr 60k warranty, as a Honda mechanic I know that that's not normal for the car to have such a loud ticking noise at all times.
