K & N Air Filter

Two questions. 1) How hard is it to put on and change and clean a K & N Air Filter on my "08 Avalon V-6? And will that void my warranty?

Are you asking about a drop-in filter or an open-element intake filter?

If its the drop-in - they install exactly the same as an OEM filter.

Whichever style you're talking about, they clean up by spraying them heavily with a K&N filter soap. Then, after it soaks in, you rinse it under running water, let it dry completely and then re-oil it with K&N spray oil. The filter will be out of commission for about a day.

The only way a warranty will be voided is if the installed part can be proven to have caused a failure of a warranted part. In the case of a drop-in K&N filter the answer is no, it can void any warranted part. The answer for an aftermarket K&N intake system is perhaps, if it can be proven that it cause a part to fail. You can read more about this by doing a search "Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act".

What Tom said. No void on the warranty, but make sure to place the K&N sticker that they give you on your air housing box so that if your car is being serviced and a filter change is required the mechanic will not toss your K&N.

very easy to do, I have a AFE Pro Dry S Replacement Air Filter on my 2006. The good thing is that you don't have to re-oil like K&N, you just wash it let it dry and reinstall.
