check in/possible engine knock

Hey guys I just bought a 2005 limited with 89k n it runs great, but for some reason I feel like I hear knocking. I looked at all other posts related but I just can't determine. It has a faint knocking sound that sounds like a diesel truck. Took it to a mech. He reved the motor nothing out of the ordinary but at idle I hear it. Had a Honda passport that made the same noise from the front engine fan, still own it and has 220k. any ideas on the avalon? Thanks guys!

if you search this forum, it's pretty common on the 3.5
I had 06 and now 05, they both sounds a little louder than other cars I used to have. Mainly during idle you hear it louder but not when the eng is rev high. especially going to a drive through, you hear that "knock, knock, knock...."

this happened on Sienna, Camry...as well, again the 3.5 vvti. Unless it is VERY loud, then I wouldn't worry too much about it
