Future of Avalon and other New Car from 2012 Auto Show

Went to the Seattle Auto Show last night and here is something I would like to share with you all.

Since most folks here are Avalon owners, let's start with Avalon
Toyota needs to come up with something looks good, no 1 on my list

Hyundai Genesis looks and feel way better then Avalon. I know some people say it doesn't drive as good as the Avalon. Just looking at the front and sitting inside, forget about the logo and it is getting up there with Lexu/Acura. (IMO) When I close all the windows, all the noise around me was reduce so much that I have to give it a "wow", that's nice....

Another one is the Nissan Maxiam, yes, it's smaller but it is kind of the same price range and very sporty (= smaller backseat)

One thing I noticed is how price goes up for new car today. A new Toyota Sequoia $62K? What the? Don't know who can afford it, not an old man like me for sure. If you are not using it to tow, why such big SUV? Probably will have trouble parking in my garage anyway, the space inside is nice but still, a loaded 4WD doesn't even have HID.

Another funny thing is a new IQ from Scion, there are couple loaded one for $23K. OMG I told my wife do you want to keep your Avalon or this "brand new" $23K IQ

I think the Hyundais look nice but fall apart after a few years..Cheaper interior parts, rattling, loose trim and panels. My neighbor works for them and delivers and drives em all the time..When he brings them home i peep em out and ...I doubt i would rather buy them over a Toyota, Lex,..Just my opinion..You see the Newest one with the fully reclining rear seats TV and Cooler?..lol

The Max????Nice..yes...Same as Avalon? No..Maxima is a lot sportier all around, smaller too.To me its more classed with the Camry SE

I also went to the Seattle Intl. Auto show last night. I also came away impressed with the Genesis as well as the VW CC. The '12 Avalon that was on display was absolutely sweet but just seems a bit dated compared to what other manufacturers had on display.

If you're interested in seeing a few pictures (no Toyota's though), go check out http://www.flickr.com/photos/tominta...7627928377759/

The Avalon is very outdated, but still a pretty good vehicle. The Genesis doesn't necessarily compete with the Avalon being two different types of platforms, but I could see the case being made for it.

What I'm more interested in is the newlly redesigned Hyundai Azera. It's been out in Korea for a couple months now and it looks absolutely fantastic.

I remembered my friend got the Azera for his wife a few years ago and back then, that car already got me a good impression. Good to know there are many choices out there now

I have to agree that Avalon is very outdated (but still comfortable).
