You supposed to use the factory carpet clip. In my HL, putting it on is easy but every time I need to clean the weathertech liner, I have a hard to taking it out. The best way for me is to put my hand under the liner and use my other hand/thumb to push that clip out of the hold.

Last week, I just vacumn instead of taking the whole thing out

My liner is Black and here is what I do for cleaning
brush and garden hose
When the liner was new, it had a shinny coat but after using it for a month, the shin was gone. I don't want to use too much chemical worry it might turn spotty. I brush and hose off the dirt, let it air dry, that's it.
