Removing this panel

How do I remove the panel indicated in the picture below?

Also is it safe to drill a 3/4 inch hole through because I need to add a rocker switch for some LEDs I am installing.

Thanks in advance

Would it matter if I have the push button start? SO I have to remove the wood trim on the part of the left vent in order to get to the bottom portion with the fuel cap and trunk buttons?

What Minus(-) is suggesting is an alternative to removing the lower left finish panel. What you really want is to get to the the fuel and trunk lid release switches, because there are 1 or 2 blank positions just to the right you can use for your LED switch.

If you prefer to work from the bottom up . . .
Get the interior good and warm (unless you live in a worm climate), so the plastic and blind fasteners will not be brittle.
Remove the left front door sill plate (pull up). Some of the fasteners will come off and will have to be retrieved and slid back into place for reassembly later.
Remove the left cowl panel (the one just below the hood release). pull away and back; thee are several hidden clips and pawls retaining it.
Remove the hood release handle, with the cable still attached to it.
A bolt will be revealed that retains the lower left edge of the lower finish panel. On the right, there is a rectangular plastic cover that must be pried off to reveal a screw that retains the lower right edge. Remove both the bolt and the screw.
The entire panel can now be pulled down and back. There are 7 blind clips where it meets the driver's knee airbag cover, and 4 blind pawls along the edge where it meets the instrument panel.
Remove the switch connectors.
Check for any broken clips/pawls, or any that did not remain attached to the panel.

I suggest not to drill any holes near the driver's knee airbag, which is below the steering column.

Yea Thats A Good Idea Too...Just a Lil More Work....Infact I Didnt Even Take Anything Off To Have My Switch and LEDs Installed...He Just Took Out The Blank Plate...and Ran The Wires Thru From The Hood...Double Checked From Under the Drivers Seat....and BOOM!.....But Either Way Should Work...Lets Us Know How It Goes

So if I follow Minus' way, Would I still go through these steps? It sound a bit complicated to be honest.

And If I follow Minus' way, What should I do about the push button?
